GSBS designed the Gore School of Business at Westminster College to accommodate the institution's new MBA program and help alleviate its serious space needs. Working with the donor, the staff and the Westminster Board of Trustees, GSBS designed a space incorporating elements of the existing campus. The new building has classroom space, computer labs, and 150 seat lecture hall which demonstrates state of the art design acoustically and visually.
One of the components of the Bill and Vieve Gore School of Business is a 150 seat auditorium. Many examples and configurations were explored which provided for excellent sightlines and acoustics. Also required in the sloped seating scheme was access for handicapped lecturers as well as audience. The result is an acoustically perfect small auditorium requiring no sound reinforcement. This was accomplished by suspending clouds of inexpensive gypsum board following the sound wave paths. Also accomplished with the design was a projection room, suspended video capability and hidden theater lighting
GSBS was also awarded the contract for the expansion of the Gore School of Business to accommodate their growth. This project adds an additional 33,000 s.f. to the existing 22,000 s.f. The addition includes: Tiered Classrooms, Lecture Halls, Offices, Computer Labs, Stock Trading Training Lab, Aerospace Lab with Flight Simulators, Aerospace Classrooms, and General Purpose Classrooms. |
