SPANISH FORK POOL AND SPLASH PAD

For the Spanish Fork Water Park, GSBS combined into one body of water a 50-meter competition pool; a fan-shaped, beach-edge leisure pool; and a giant water slide with plunge pool for the lowest cost, maximum flexibility, and most fun.

With this pool, GSBS completely banished the notion that a community should be satisfied with a 25-yard lap pool with a deep end surrounded by 10 feet of concrete and a chain-link fence. Instead, GSBS raised the bar on pool design: a community water park for all ages and all members of the community.

The design team built locker rooms of reinforced masonry and poured-in-place concrete in keeping with the client's desire for a durable, easily supervised, easily maintained, seasonal facility. The saw-tooth roof form is designed to accommodate a future solar water heating system. It was GSBS's first of many "sustainable" locker rooms which are open to the light and air, creating more comfortable space which is less expensive to operate and maintain.
